When you get married in the winter, not only are you thinking of ways to keep your guests warm and comfortable, but also how to pull in elements of the season into your overall decor, whether you add warm apple cider or hot toddies to your signature drink menu or decorate each table to make it look like your guests are at a winter wonderland celebration.

But if you’re looking for eye-catching and unique winter wedding trends, here are the top ones for winter 2022-2023 that will make your celebration shine.

Niche Bars

In addition to a traditional bar, a new twist some couples are adding into their winter wedding this year is incorporating mini niche bars around their reception venue. For example, you can have a hot chocolate bar in one corner, a s'mores bar in another area, and even a popsicle stand in another.

Depending on your budget and the tone of your wedding, you can mix and match bars that offer drinks, desserts, or additional appetizers for people to grab during dinner.

Disco Ball Themed Decor

If you’re looking to add a glamorous touch to your decor, include disco balls into your reception style. You can include mini disco balls as part of your centerpieces, hang disco balls from the ceiling, or even use disco ball shaped cups for specialty drinks.

Depending on your current color scheme, the silver shine of the disco balls can tie in nicely with an overall winter wonderland look.

Candlelight Send-Offs

For summer weddings, doing a sparkler send-off is a popular way for your guests to say goodbye and for the reception to end. But in the colder winter months, consider swapping the sparklers for a candlelight send-off. Set up an exit runway that’s lined with clear vases of all different sizes that have floating candles in them. You can also have your guests hold candles as well, just as long as it's done safely.

Rustic Wedding Palettes

Often for winter weddings, we see a lot of deep reds and shades of white and silvers for couples' go-to color palates. But one fun color scheme that’s trending this year includes more rustic colors. Adding in deep oranges, rust reds, and even copper seems to be a style that a lot of winter wedding couples are going with for their decor and table linens.

All-White Bouquets and Floral Arrangements

If you’re struggling to decide what kind of flower arrangements to decorate your ceremony and reception with, a winter wedding trend makes it easier for you. A lot of couples are going with all-white arrangements this season, playing into the beauty of winter whites.

If you’re getting married in a bold venue or even somewhere outdoors, going with white roses for your bouquet and centerpieces can compliment the design and style of what’s already present at your venue.

Bridal Capes

When you have a winter wedding in a cold location, you might want to think about adding in a shawl, jacket, or sleeves to your wedding dress to stay warm. A popular trend this season is to skip the traditional coverings and instead go with a bridal cape.

This accessory usually buttons around your neck and lies flat over your dress, allowing your hands to stick out to hold your bouquet. You can pick a cape that’s mid-length or even one that goes to the floor. Depending on your dress style, having a bridal cape over a veil or even a shawl, can make the entire look pop even more.

Velvet Fabrics

In the past, when couples were thinking about the fabrics for their linens and even wedding outfits, they usually went with lace and silk. This year, velvet is making quite a big comeback. Not only are a lot of couples picking velvet tuxedos and dresses, but also using the fabric for tablecloths, napkins, and even reception chairs for a more elegant look.
